I'm totally going to ask about this song when I see them again (sadly they canceled their show with Mirah in Philly or I would have earlier this week). The idea that he's being arrested is an interesting interpretation, like he's in denial about things through the very end. Maybe this is all just a case of songs as fiction...I'm totally freaked out by the number of nice little old ladies that read mystery novels but I don't think they're secretly murderers :) Hey, I didn’t forget about this conversation! I then imagined/totally-misconstrued that the “this isn’t really happening to me” line is what he’s thinking as he’s being arrested. :)

Because I had to listen several times...but I didn't hear anything implied that the person didn't know they were taking E, just that the singer was unsure the person would have fallen for him in other circumstances. Also, the "half a hit" implied to me that they were sharing... of course the nice thing about indiepop is we could probably just ask Greg. I wondered about that lyric for a long time so maybe I'm just glossing it over, but being that many people I know love E and I'm too scaredy cat to even try that kind of stuff, I figured it was most likely about people who think it's really fun. file under: Court admitting she hangs out with people who like glamorous drugs she finds stupid.
