Marine Research, Call and Response, Bishop Allen, Foundry Field Recordings, Cub, Beulah, Voxtrot.Anyways, Call and Response have this song “California in Floating in Space” which is perfect for this footage I took while on the ferris wheel on the Santa Monica pier.

I just heard this song on a Music That Matters podcast and it’s great. I had heard a couple Bishop Allen songs before, but nothing as super as this song. Didn’t know they were local to Brooklyn either. Maybe I can catch a show by them.

Lots of great people and I took

Lispector. She seemed pretty cool. Kinda like The Blow.

4 year old boy. There was this little kid with a sword dancing around and climbing up on the stage between sets. Everyone was fascinated with him.

The Metric Mile. The girl in the middle played “distortion.” All shoegazey, but with a beat so you could dance to it. They didn’t have an album out yet, so I couldn’t buy it.

Yellow Fever. A band from Auston, TX. They had some neat harmonizing.

Pants Yell!

BMX Bandits. This band was terrific. They did a beautiful cover of Bonnie ‘Prince’ William’s After I Made Love to You. It was so late though, I couldn’t stay for their whole set. I ended up leaving around 2:00am.

Everyone at the show was great. It’s such a friendly scene. I don’t remember the last time so many people came up to me and introduced themselves. The glam scene can shove it. This is where it’s at. I can’t wait for the show tonight, the show Saturday night, the dance party on Sunday, and the BBQ/show on Monday.

It sounded like some soundtrack’s interlude.

The next time I saw him, I didn’t have enough money. But yesterday, I had just taken some money out and I had a feeling he’d be in the station again. And there he was! Only $5 dollars.

He plays this electric classical guitar, where it’s just an outline of a guitar body and some strings.

Matthew Nichols, playing his own compositions. The CD has 16 other songs that are classical guitar pieces. it’s really very pretty.

I especially like It Is Not There, but my favorite isn’t on his website. It’s only 1:42 long, but I listened to it repeatedly all day today. I think I’m going to use it as a soundtrack for a very short artsy movie.

This song (Bobby Malone Moves Home) by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone is beautiful. It reminds me of my first year after graduating college.

Neat song from The Islands. Sounds like a mixture between The Unicorns and Billy Joel Ash.

Funny. After doing some research, the band has two members of The Unicorns.
