I made a couple easter eggs. One of them almost looked animated:

The other one featured a giant robot shooting lasers out of his head at a tank, soldier, helicopter, and jet bomber.

Night 3:

Brown Spider Recluse. Bought their album.

The Besties. Already had their album.

My Teenage Stride. Bought the album.

Ballboy. Scottish shoegaze. Bought three albums.

The Ballet. They have a song about seducing someone with a slipped Ecstasy.

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. Bought two albums. Awesome, and heartbreaking.

Lispector. She seemed pretty cool. Kinda like The Blow.

4 year old boy. There was this little kid with a sword dancing around and climbing up on the stage between sets. Everyone was fascinated with him.

The Metric Mile. The girl in the middle played “distortion.” All shoegazey, but with a beat so you could dance to it. They didn’t have an album out yet, so I couldn’t buy it.

Yellow Fever. A band from Auston, TX. They had some neat harmonizing.

BMX Bandits. This band was terrific. They did a beautiful cover of Bonnie ‘Prince’ William’s After I Made Love to You. It was so late though, I couldn’t stay for their whole set. I ended up leaving around 2:00am.

Everyone at the show was great. It’s such a friendly scene. I don’t remember the last time so many people came up to me and introduced themselves. The glam scene can shove it. This is where it’s at. I can’t wait for the show tonight, the show Saturday night, the dance party on Sunday, and the BBQ/show on Monday.

Even got some sun from being at the top of the mountain for so long. Apparently you can see six states from the top.

I spent all day at work listening to The Besties and some twee band from Iceland. I remember this guy in college who’s personal mission it seemed was to spread the word of ska. Well, that’s what twee is for me. No one seems to listen to it in NYC. Maybe it’s not all cocaine’d rockstar enough for this city, I dunno. But I think it’s making in-roads.

Anyways, it inspired me to start recording a new song: Tree Fort. This is only the first 30 seconds or so and it’s still very much in progress. But still, fun!

I’m very much considering going to the New England Popfest 2006. It’d be nice if I could find someone else who’d want to go, but every person I show it to says “I haven’t ever heard of any of these bands, ever.” I’m not bragging, I wish I had more people to talk about this music with.
